diving.

finally have begun diving.  getting reacquainted with the water was nice but i've been having trouble with my buoyancy.  i did fine diving in the tropics wearing a weight belt and shorty wetsuit but this is quite a bit different.  this is cold water diving.  to go under here you need a thick wetsuit, boots, gloves, and a hood.  all of this gear makes you more buoyant, which means more weights to counter it.  an instructor at the shop lived in SE Asia for 10 years and said coming here was like having to learn how to dive all over again so i guess i'm not the only person who has had some trouble adjusting.  having said that, it's still a blast to get in the water and check out the sea critters.  i've seen lots of nudibranchs, fish of varying shapes and sizes, and a sea otter with its pup playing in the water.  awesome.

the only thing that sucks is my housing situation.  i have no place to stay which means i've been alternating between sleeping in various parking lots, motels, and roadside turnouts.  this has caused me no small amount of stress and financial strain.  Joel and i are gonna look for a place to stay beginning july 1st but until then i have to figure something out cause i'm not sleeping well and it's starting to get to me.

to end on a positive note here is a picture of my truck being used to haul diving equipment, this is something i've been fantasizing about for a few years now.
