rain.

crazy crazy weather here.  about 5am i woke up to howling winds rocking my truck back and forth.  thankfully i had put some rocks in my tent or it certainly would be at the bottom of the colorado river.

thus far there has been wind, rain, hail, stifling humidity, and something that qualifies as precipitation but is more intense than rain.  there has to be a word for when you are driving and then you just run into a wall of water and can't see.  i came around a bend and it looked like a shroud was hanging over the cliffs.  there was just a thick black wall of water.

so i've been in my truck most all day.  during a brief respite from the rain when the sun came out i headed over to "negro bill canyon".  it was a nice enough hike until the rain started again.  the canyon is a bit different from the rest of them because there is a perennial creek that runs through it.  this provides enough water to sustain a nice grove of willow and oak.  there were also some purple wildflowers growing that provided a nice contrast to the red canyon walls.

other than that short hike it's just been a lot of reading, watching movies, and waiting for the rain to let up so i can make food.
